Ruth’s Success Story

What Success Looks Like: Ruth’s Story

Ruth is a 63-year-old woman diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. When Senior Options first became involved just over two years ago, she had been forced into early retirement from her career as a veterinarian. She was experiencing cognitive decline, word-finding difficulties, confusion, and significant depression. Ruth lived alone, with family living out of state.

Senior Options created a comprehensive care plan, including a companion two days per week, cognitive therapy, and a full evaluation to address her medical, emotional, and social needs. Ruth was identified as a candidate for Leqembi, and Senior Options worked closely with her insurance provider to secure appropriate coverage.

With medication and coordinated support, Ruth has shown meaningful improvement. She continues to live independently with support, volunteers in her community, participates actively in her synagogue, and regularly spends time with her nephews who live an hour away. She continues her infusions twice monthly.

Recently, during a medical appointment, Ruth spoke with another woman who apologized for her own memory struggles. Ruth shared her story her fears, her journey, and how her life is now full again. In that moment, she gave hope to someone who felt she had none.

This is what success looks like.
