Leaving a Legacy
Today would have been my father’s 101st birthday.
One year ago, on what would have been his centennial, my siblings and I brought the whole clan together to celebrate his remarkable life. It was a day filled with laughter, stories, food, and games, exactly the kind of day Dad would have loved.
My father, Bernard Markowitz, believed in making the most of every single day. He used to say, “Live it up every day!” And he did. He was about energy, purpose, and joy, but more than anything else, he was about FAMILY.
That day, three generations gathered to honor him, to share memories, and to simply be together. And while his absence was deeply felt, so was his presence, in every story told, in the values echoed by his children and grandchildren, and in the love that filled the room.
His legacy is alive. His spirit endures. And as we mark what would have been his 101st birthday, I find great comfort knowing that the life he lived so fully continues to inspire the lives we’re living today.
